Alcohol Abuse
When one is taking in alcohol
into his system in the form of alcoholic beverages in amounts
beyond his limit, more likely that person is an alcoholic. There
are various reasons why people succumb to drinking too much.
The list is extensively high but the summary reveals that many
drink to escape pressures brought about by problems whether family
matters or peer-related, to cover insecurities and coyness and even
to boost morale. Unfortunately, alcoholism is associated with
various negative consequences. However if the condition worsens and
that individual continuously drinks despite knowing the
negative effects, then the condition is known as alcohol
abuse and treatment should be considered at
once.
As a psychiatric diagnosis,
alcohol abuse is different from alcoholism because it is beyond
dependence. In addition, tolerance and withdrawal is not prominent
among abusers. Here, an alcoholic continues to
consume it
despite their knowledge of the ill effects of such in their lives
and even in the lives of those surrounding them.
Treatment for alcohol abusers
may be in some sort of way similar to those of alcoholism but there
might be forms of treatments, which are extensively designed for
abusers. Treatment have various programs that cater to differences
in age and gender as reasons for alcohol abuse also come
differently among individual patients.
