Alcohol Problem
Issues related to excessive alcohol intake
have gotten worse than ever imagined. It is traced to the
increasing number of alcoholics all over the globe who succumb to
drinking to get away from all sorts of pressing issues that one is
confronting in life. Cases of people with an alcohol problem
are often lumped into one category: alcoholism.
For some time, this could be true but the
fact that cases are variable because of differences on the length
of time the patient has been consuming alcohol as well as the
factors that trigger the start and even the continuously use of it
comes into play, the said statement might likely be not applicable
these days.
Alcohol
problems do not come as one simple malady. Revealing its true
color, a disease slowly digs on the society causing destruction.
Known before solely as alcoholism, problems related to drinking can
be due either abuse or alcohol. Alcohol abuse cases are referred as
pattern problems mainly because alcoholics tend to create drastic
changes to the things one usually does.
Common
manifestation of abuse includes frequent tardiness in school or
work, which eventually becomes absenteeism resulting to being
kicked out of the job, constant and most often nonsense fight with
family members or friends and participation in dangerous acts
during the drunken state such as being on the wheel even under the
influence of alcohol. Dependence on the other hand is a more
threatening situation. Most abusers can successfully withdraw from
alcohol after treatment however; the opposite is likely to happen
among dependent individuals. Upon withdrawal, patients experience
more pain than abusers and the tendency to revert to alcoholism is
very high.
Why is an alcohol problem a social threat? It
is mainly because it concerns everyone. Even if you do not have a
family member who is an alcoholic the chance of encountering one is
high whether on the street, school or at work. Anyone could be
attacked by this malady. This may not appear as serious as viral
attacks that cause tremendous fright among humans, but like a
silent killer, it can victimize and jeopardize not only the life of
the patient but the family members and friends. Therefore,
everyone so take a stand against alcoholism. You will never know
when it will save your life or your significant other’s
lives.
