Alcoholism Test
If you suspect a family member,
a close friend or even an office mate is becoming an alcohol addict
but cannot verify your suspicion, you might as well “trick” them to
talk to you by asking some standard questions in a free flowing
conversation or a friendly talk. You can then look at their answers
and assess by yourself if indeed that person is taking alcohol
in excessive amount or not. Another way is to convince that person
to take a standard questionnaire either those available on the net
or those in medical clinics. This standard form of questioning to
assess alcohol dependence is also known as alcoholism
test.
An alcoholism test is taken to
know whether a person is dearly engaged with excessive alcoholic
drinking or not. The test is composed of series of questions that a
suspected alcoholic must answer. Unfortunately, this is unlike most
medical tests (i.e. blood tests, DNA tests) that will
immediately tell one of the result after the specific test is
taken.
Because
the test is subjective and since most alcoholics deny most facts
related to their dependence, most results seem to be questioned of
its validity and reliability. However since there is no replacement
for those questionnaires, the answers are used to assess
cases.
Questions usually included in an alcoholism
test attempt to assess which category a person falls into
whether that person is just a plain social drinker or has he become
an addict. Questions related to this require one to answer how much
liquor one can consume. The urgency to drink alcoholic beverages is
also asked. Related inquiries would be if memory lapses and or acts
of violence happened in instances of too much drinking. Other
question would also try to ask if there has been an incidence of
the prospect patient housed in rehabilitation centers or any
counseling programs previously enrolled. This will actually help a
lot in assessing what appropriate programs will be
administered.
