Prolonged Smoking and Alcohol Intake Could Cause
Impotence
Studies have been done that conclude that if a man smokes
a pack of cigarettes a day for five years had a much higher chance
to develop impotence than a man who did not smoke. Smoking and alcohol cause
numerous health issues for men and for women as
well.
Heavy smoking will damage the blood vessels in the penis,
which decreases the sexual capability. Narcotics can also cause
this potential for impotence.
Impotence among men who smoked and among men who were
non-smokers was quite similar. However, men who suffered from some
other ailment such as heart disease and who smoked were much more
likely to suffer from impotence.
Too much alcohol consumption will decrease the ability to
produce testosterone. In fact, alcohol can trigger a hormonal
situation similar to menopause. Alcohol will decrease a mans’
sexual functionality and sets the stage for potential heart
problems as well. Smoking and alcohol can cause serious health
issues for all men.
Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to impotence.
Studies have concluded that up to twenty-five percent of all
alcoholics will become impotent. This includes even after they
quite drinking.
Other things that alcohol can affect are memory loss and
even issues with amnesia. Both smoking and alcohol will cause
sexual deficiency if use for prolonged periods. In some cases,
impotency is reversible if alcohol and smoking is
stopped.
If smoking and alcohol consumption is stopped and
impotence still occurs, then a physician may need to determine
whether the problem is physical or psychological. In some cases,
medication may be prescribed.
